About Heather
Heather has been the Health and Safety Manager for RMC Group since the summer of 2017 and holds a seat on the Concrete Alberta Health and Safety Committee. Heather has a diploma in Health and Safety from NAIT and a background in corrections, mental health/addictions, and emergency response. Heather has a passion for breaking down the barriers in Health and Safety and believes that everyone needs to be involved in the process for it to succeed. She believes that the more you educate and empower people, the more successful they are in keeping the workplace healthy and safe. Heather advocates for the early planning of safety into all projects , no matter the size. She sees the importance of using collaboration and relationship building to create successful and proactive Health and Safety systems. Heather believes that integrating safety into all daily activities moves companies from a “blame, shame” vision to a “retrain” state of mind. By building employee empowerment, staff feel involved in the process and the end result reflects their expertise and real life systems that work for everyone.
